MotoCluster

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026

MotoCluster turns your phone into a motorcycle instrument cluster and a navigation screen. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses, what leaves your phone, and what does not.

The short version. Your rides, fuel logs and settings never leave your phone. Two things do go out: your location, sent to the map provider so it can draw the map and work out your route, and — only if you choose to sign in — the small amount of account data needed to run the free trial. There are no ads and nothing is sold.

Location

MotoCluster uses your device's precise location to show where you are on the map, to navigate, and to show local weather in the header. Location is only used while the app is open — the app does not track you in the background.

To draw a map and calculate a route, your coordinates have to be sent to the services that provide those things:

We do not store your location, and we never attach it to your identity, your account or your rides. Any route you plan exists only in your phone's memory for that trip.

Bluetooth and vehicle data

Bluetooth is used solely to talk to your OBD-II adapter. The BLUETOOTH_SCAN permission is declared with neverForLocation, so the app cannot use Bluetooth to derive your position.

Live vehicle data (rpm, speed, temperatures, throttle, fault codes, VIN for profile matching) is read from the adapter and shown on the cluster. Ride history and fuel logs are stored on your device only and can be deleted by you at any time.

Optional: signing in for the free trial

The 7-day Pro trial is optional and needs a Google sign-in so the trial can be tied to an account. If you never start a trial, no account is created and none of this applies.

When you sign in, our Firebase project stores:

This is used only to confirm the trial hasn't already been used on your account and to show your remaining days after a reinstall. It is never used for advertising or profiling, and never sold. It is encrypted in transit. To have it deleted, email us from the address you signed in with.

Optional: sharing anonymous vehicle data

Off by default. If you turn on "Share anonymous vehicle data", the app uploads an anonymous technical fingerprint of your bike — which OBD sensors it supports, ECU identifiers, the VIN manufacturer prefix only (never the full VIN), redline, gear ratios and tank size — so automatic bike detection improves for everyone. It contains no location, no rides and nothing personal.

Turning this on also enables basic usage analytics (Firebase Analytics): which cluster screen you are viewing and for how long. This is used only to understand which layouts are worth developing. It is off whenever the sharing setting is off.

Because the vehicle fingerprint is anonymous and improves the app's profiles for all riders, it is retained if you delete your account: it is detached from your account rather than removed. Everything that identifies you — your account and trial data — is deleted.

Each is governed by its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.

What the app does not do

Storage and deletion

All app data — settings, ride history, fuel logs, your vehicle choice, any bike photo you add — is stored in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling removes it. You can also clear ride history inside the app, and export a backup file you keep yourself. Trial sign-in data is deleted on request by email.

Children

MotoCluster is not directed at children. The optional sign-in relies on a Google account, whose use Google restricts by age.
